Spencer Rush

Spencer Aaron Rush, 22, was born in Des Moines on September 13, 2001, to Bettyjo Rush. He passed away on March 30, 2024.

Spencer graduated from East High School in 2020. He had just started a new job at Rasmussen Lawn Care and previously worked at Big Barn Harley-Davidson. Spencer enjoyed riding his motorcycle, going to hockey games, spending time with family and friends and living life to the fullest. Nine times out of ten you would find his dog, Harley, out and about with him. You could always find Spencer at the Iowa State Fair on Eastside Night representing his Eastside Pride or shooting at Big Dogs.

Growing up Spencer loved playing sports (baseball, basketball, soccer), riding his skateboard and bike, playing with hot wheels and playing video games. He was fearless and kept his mom on her toes with many broken limbs, cuts and bruises. Spencer was a kindhearted and caring person. He was the life of the party with a contagious laugh and smile. He was always quick to help someone in need and would light up any room he walked into. He loved to live life on the edge and wouldn’t let anyone tell him he couldn’t do something.

Spencer is survived by his mom, Bettyjo; grandparents, Stephen Rush, Judy Wilson (Mike); siblings, Amanda (De’Angelo) Kyli, Tierney, Tyelar; nieces and nephews, uncles and aunts, cousins, bonus family, and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandma Carmon Rush, Uncles Larry Rush, Dennis Blackford, Bob Wolbers, Tim Kelce, and cousin Shelby Rush.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 20th, at Big Dog Billiards at 3:00PM. 4510 NE 14 St, Des Moines, IA 50313

Memorial contributions may be directed to his mom, Bettyjo, and sister, Amanda.

Floral arrangements can be sent to 1110 Seneca Ave, Des Moines, IA 50313
