Richard (Dick) Grant

Richard (Dick) Grant, age 92, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025.  He was born on March 23, 1932, in Waseca, Minnesota, to Ralph and Olga Grant and was raised on Clear Lake in Waseca. He graduated from Central High School (Waseca) and from St. Olaf College.

Dick loved to make new friends and had a lively sense of humor. He was very active in their various churches over the years. Participating in church choirs and being a Sunday School teacher were two of his favorite ways to share his spiritual gifts. He was a member of the International Concatenated Order of Hoo Hoo!  Dick was also an avid golfer, bird enthusiast, reader of history and woodworker. In retirement he was a volunteer golf ranger at Beaver Creek Golf Course and Hospice volunteer. He would always make time to play games or cards with friends and family. He wanted you to know he used Pepsodent toothpaste, to make his teeth sparkle. But his biggest sparkle was the love of his life, Joyce Beach, and they were happily married for 69 years until she passed away in Sept 2024.

His mantra was to always do the best that he could, given the talents the Lord blessed him with and to do his best to live and love as Jesus did. His life was truly a living example of his passion and steadfast faith.

Dick is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, his brother Winston and his parents. He was a devoted, loving and fun father to his daughters, Eva Boerre, Dawn (Steve) Eckley, Amy (Robert) Kovacs and son, Jay (Shelly) Jacobson. He loved on his five grandchildren, Jessica (Eduardo), Ashley (Kendrick), Jennifer (Alvaro), David (Anna) and Gregory. He treasured time watching his four great grandchildren grow, who are all one-year-old or younger.

All of these people he loved and touched deeply, and their lives will be forever changed because of his love. Welcome to your eternal home my good and faithful servant!

Cheers to a job well done!
