Paul Joseph Mumma

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Joseph Mumma on April 15th, 2025, at the age of 58. Paul was born on December 11, 1966, in Shenandoah Iowa, to Dan and Karen (Block) Mumma. He was raised in Des Moines where he graduated from East High School in 1985 and was a member of the swimming team. In younger years he played baseball with Grandview Little League.

One of Paul’s earlier hobbies was clowning in local parades with his Uncle Dick and cousin Andy. He also enjoyed sailing, fishing and the lake life with his brothers and friends. Annual trips to Lake of The Ozarks were a yearly highlight.

Paul met and married Tracy Mettler, his wife of 29 years. To this union their children Carly Rae and Luke Anthony Mumma were born. Paul was a devoted father and husband, never missing a baseball, football, dancing or cheerleading function.

Paul worked for Dee Zee Manufacturing and later with Lineage Logistics.

Surviving family members are his wife, Tracy – children Carly and Luke Mumma – Father, Dan Mumma, Sister Kim Buntz (Mike), brothers, Chris (Souane), Steve (Rob), Jeff (Jill).

Paul was proceeded in death by his mother Karen Mumma, grandparents Catherine and Harlan Block and Bernice and Robert Mumma.

Funeral will be Thursday, April 24th at 10:30 am at St Anthony’s Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Road, Des Moines, IA 50315. The family invites everyone to a luncheon in the parish hall immediately following the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to The Animal Rescue League of Iowa.

Paul was generous and loyal – he will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his family and friends. He truly loved each of them.
