Patrick Matthew Meyer, age 72, passed away on February 17, 2023. Patrick was born on March 17, 1950 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to his parents Clifford and Florence (Hood) Meyer. He grew up in Pomeroy, Iowa where he made core memories.
Patrick loved being involved in sports since high school and has been passionate about all sports ever since. In high school, he would stay busy year-round by starting the fall season with football then basketball, track and baseball in the warmer months. He was an avid Cubs, Vikings, and Iowa State fan.
He met his high school sweetheart Becky Zinnel during these years, and shortly after they graduated they got married on September 14, 1968. Of these 22 years of marriage came two children, Melissa and Ryan. They grew up with the love of their father and always remembering him cracking a joke at all times. Also, the guidance he gave them when it came to having a positive outlook on life and molding them into who they are today. Becky and Patrick had danced their last dance but remained life-long partners incase either one needed a shoulder to lean on.
He was such a proud Grandpa and always loved attending their activities. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and you’d be certain to hear…“Remember when”.
Patrick is preceded in death by his parents Cliff and Florence Meyer, sister Janet Graham, brother Michael Meyer, and father-in-law Marvin Zinnel.
Left to cherish his memory are his partner Becky Meyer; his daughter Melissa Brandsfield (Troy) and their sons Brady (fiancée Taleah Smith) and Cade; son Ryan Meyer (Kimberly) and their children Madelyn and William; sister Karen Miller; sister Pam DeVoe (Paul); sister-in-law Fran Meyer; brother-in-law Roger Graham; mother-in-law Darleen Zinnel; sisters-in-law Deb Greene (Don), Shelley Greene (Orlen), Tammy O’Tool; brothers-in-law Jeff Zinnel and Doug Zinnel; and many other beloved family members and friends.
Patrick will be laid to rest at Norwalk Cemetery.
