Norman Eugene Richardson, 83, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 6:39 p.m.
Norman was born on September 18, 1940 in Seymour, Iowa to Hubert Edward and Zina Cleona (Hook) Richardson. He married
Lyndell Luko on August 24, 1974. After their marriage, he adopted Lyndell's two little kids (Sherry & Curtis) and loved
them like his own for which they are forever grateful. From their union, they also had a son, Kris.
Norman served in the United States Army. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad in Moline, Illinois and Barker in Keosauqua, Iowa for a brief time, but his lifetime career
was farming - raising hogs and cattle, growing corn and beans and baling hay. Norman was always willing to help others when needed or loan out his machinery. Norman and Lyndell
sold the farm and moved to Des Moines, IA in 2000 where Norman worked at Walmart as a greeter and then at the state building doing janitorial work.
After Norman fully retired, he had time to do other things. He became an excellent cook and made several pieces out of wood like butterflies to place on a tree, flower planters,
end tables and benches. The piece he was most proud of making was his toilet paper roll holder that can be turned the direction of preference for over or under. He also enjoyed
watching old western tv shows and movies and he loved cats and dogs.
Norman is survived by his 3 children: daughter, Sherry (Eric) Stromer of Des Moines, IA; son, Curtis (Linda) Richardson of Ottumwa, IA;
son, Kris Richardson of Des Moines, IA; sister, Leona (Bob) Meade of Oxford, IA; grandson Coltin Hoguet/girlfriend Olivia Anders of Cedar Rapids, IA;
sister-in-law, Kathy Richardson and many nieces and nephews.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers: Darl "Pete" (Mary) Richardson, Kenneth Richardson, and K.D. (Leanna) Richardson and one sister
Mary Ellen (Bill) Hancock.
