Nellie A. West passed away peacefully Wednesday July 20th, 2022 in Altoona, IA. She often would go by the nickname "Nelliebell". Nellie was born in Perry, Iowa on June 1st, 1936 to Stacey Rhoades and Mable Chapman. Nellie resided in Altoona, IA most of her life with her husband Mervin G West, who she was married to for over 40 yrs. Nellie loved polka dancing, attending many dances with the Polka Club of Iowa, which she was a part of for many years. Nellie was known for her elaborate handmade dresses that she would wear to all the polka dances. Nellie enjoyed researching genealogy and had a great love for plants and flowers.
Nellie is preceded in death by her husband Mervin G West and grandson Branden Weatherly.
Nellie is survived by her daughter Eva Dacus (Scott), grandsons Alan Weatherly (Rachel Shortell), Christopher West and Brian Weatherly (Joni). Also, many great grandchildren.
Memorial arrangements for Nellie are going to be held at a later date.
