Michael Ray Wallen 58, of Des Moines, succumbed to cancer on March 7, 2023 in his home with his loving wife by his side.
Mike was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on June 9, 1964 to Merle Wallen and Sandra (Evans) Wallen. Mike grew up with his parents and 5 siblings in the small town of LeGrand, just 9 miles east of Marshalltown. He attended Central Iowa Christian Academy in Marshalltown. Born into a trucking family, he started trucking in 1982, He remained a truck driver for over 40 years, until his sickness took him off the road. He met his wife, Brenda (Fiser) Wallen of 34 years in 1986 and the couple married in 1989. They had 3 children, Justin (Brittany) Wallen of Waukee, Tyler Wallen (Nancy Walters) of Collins, IA, and Emily Wallen of Indianapolis, IN; and 4 Grandchildren, Isaiah and Isabella Coleman of Indianapolis, IN, Rowan Wallen of Waukee, IA and Thorin Wallen of Collins, IA.
Mike is survived by his wife, Brenda, his children, grandchildren, father and mother, and 5 siblings, William (Kim) Wallen of IN, Kenneth (Jody) Wallen of Albion, IA, Sara Wallen of Albion, Steve (Balinda) Wallen of Albion, and Karen (Chad) Woosley of South Dakota. Other family members include Lori Evans in AZ, Dave & Sharon (Evans) Mendenhall in Colorado, Phil Wallen in Green Mountain, IA; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Midwest for their assistance in Mike's final journey.
Everyone who knew Mike will miss his delightful personality, helpfulness and his sense of humor.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, April 1, 2023, at the Botanical Center in Des Moines, IA.
