Judith Ann Renfrow, 78, of Knoxville, IA passed away unexpectedly at her home on October 12, 2024. Judy was born on October 23, 1945, in Des Moines, IA, daughter of Roy and Wyjean (Dougherty) Chumbley. She spent most of her childhood living on the family farm near Lucas, Iowa. She graduated from East Des Moines High School in 1963.
Judy married her first husband, Richard Campbell in 1968, they were married 9 years before Richard passed away in January of 1977. During their marriage they lived in Colorado Springs, CO. One of Judy’s favorite states.
Judy met David Renfrow in 1980, they dated many years before tying the knot in June 1989. They made their home on an acreage in Knoxville, Iowa. Judy loved living in the country where she had many rose bushes and lots of bird feeders to enjoy year-round.
Judy held many different jobs throughout her life. Her favorites were bookkeeper for Renfrow Welding, team truck driving with Dave and Wellmark BC/BS for 8 years until she retired in December 2010.
Judy enjoyed crafting, sewing, cake decorating, puzzles and hosting game/card nights with her friends. She and Dave made many trips in their Cessna airplane. She loved spending time with her nieces, nephews, and step grandchildren. She often took them out for lunch and shopping for “1” item at the mall.
Judy was a good friend who enjoyed giving gifts. She loved the look on people’s faces when they opened them.
She is proceeded in death by her husband’s David and Richard, parents and niece, Jessica Lynn.
Those left to honor her memory include brothers Mickey (Linda) Chumbley and Ted (Cheryl) Chumbley both of Des Moines, IA, sister Connie (Jesse) Uhl of Pleasant Hill, IA, stepsons Denton (Tamra) Renfrow of Kelseyville, CA and Steve (Vonda) Renfrow of Pleasantville, IA. Nieces Lacey (Chris) Rowe of Des Moines, IA, Shelby (Corey) Bertini of Kansas City, MO, Olivia Chumbley (fiancé Chase Junk) of Bellevue, IA. Nephews Mike (April) Chumbley of Norwalk, IA and Jared Uhl of Des Moines, IA. Step grandchildren Kate (Kurt) Beranis, Anna Renfrow, Bronya (Casey) Willmore, Darbie (Adam) Ballard and Hattie Renfrow (fiancé Matthew Kauffman), along with many cousins and friends. And especially her “little doggie” Goldie who went everywhere with her.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 26th from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM with Eulogy at 1:00 PM. Location is the Memorial Hall, 101 North Jefferson Street, Pleasantville, IA 50225.
