John Charles Longnecker “Chuck” was born the only child of Cecil Longnecker and Pearl Beeman in Des Moines, Iowa on February 22, 1936. He died February 5, 2022, at Aspire of Gowrie in Gowrie, Iowa with his daughter, Johnna by his side. He lived 85 years, 11 months, and 14 days.
As an adult he lived in Colorado where he worked at the airport in Denver and later in Iowa at the Des Moines airport where he drove shuttle bus and kept the ramps cleared.
He was united in marriage to Frances Long and from this union two daughters were born, Ramona and Peggy. They later divorced.
John was united in marriage to Marilyn Hankins and from this union another daughter, Johnna was born. They later divorced.
John joined Pam Minks in marriage and later widowed.
John was a member of the Iowa National Guard. Some of John’s passions were cooking, square dancing, wood crafts and making pillows on a pillow board and he loved his dogs.
John was preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Pearl Longnecker, his stepfather Ron Slaymaker, and his wife Pam Longnecker.
He is survived by his children, Ramona (Chris) Bohte of Thornton, Colorado, Peggy (Glen) Kastoff of Walsenburg, Colorado. Johnna Longnecker of Gowrie, Iowa. Grandchildren, Amber (Ricky) Archuleta of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Michelle (Mike) Snyder of Texas, Jerico Kastoff, Elisha Kastoff, Sara Kastoff and Josiah Kastoff all of Walsenburg, Colorado. John was blessed with five great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
Graveside services will be held on April 23, 2022, at Burwick Cemetery in Ankeny, Iowa at 11:00 a.m.
Memorials can be left to his daughter, Johnna Longenecker’s discretion.
