Jeremy Anderson

Jeremy Christian Anderson ran into Heaven’s gates on November 11, 2024, ready to get the party started. He was born into this world on July 16, 1975, as a surprise 5th birthday present to his oldest sister Nika. After attending Smouse School in Ottumwa and Des Moines for elementary and Jr. High, he moved to Children’s Rehabilitation Center in Johnston, where he attended and graduated Johnston High School. (GO DRAGONS) He lived out his adult life with assistance from Martin Luther Homes/Mosaic, and his family.

Jeremy was truly not of this world and made those around him feel special, heard and loved. His different abilities made him a force to be reckoned with. His smiles and laughter brightened even the darkest of days. He loved participating in the Special Olympics, playing wheelchair basketball, watching the Drake basketball teams, attending concerts, bowling, watching baseball, going on dates, listening to music, visiting Camp Sunnyside, and he had a special connection with nature.

He loved his family and was protective of his sisters – quick to give a pinch to potential suitors to let them know he was watching them. Jeremy also loved food! His favorite time of the year was Thanksgiving, where he’d visit his cousins house and eat everything that he possibly could.  Outside of Thanksgiving, Jeremy’s tastes often centered around pizza, McDonalds, cookies, ice cream, and an occasional beer.

His spirit was fuel and fire, and we will greatly miss his physical presence.  We rest in knowing that he was met with open arms by our mother (Billie), his grandmother (Jean), his uncle (Jed) and his Creator.

A Celebration of Life will be held next summer, and details will be provided. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Mosaic and Camp Sunnyside to continue on Jeremy’s legacy!

Jeremy is survived by his sisters, Nika Naylor, Kara Glann (John), Hannah Tomlinson, and many aunts, uncles and cousins who he loved dearly.
