Reverend David P. Waite, of Olive Branch Church in Des Moines, passed away at Age 71 on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 in West Des Moines Iowa from stage 4 colon cancer.
During his lifetime, he was a Pastor, Husband, Father, Grandfather, a mechanic, a finish carpenter, an IT guy. His nickname was Batman (yes, he caught live bats) He graduated as a Mechanical Engineer in Lowell, Massachusetts. His career in IT concluded as an IT Architectural Engineer working for Sun Microsystems in Burlington, Massachusetts and AT&T in Missouri.
His father is Leonard Stone Waite and mother is Geraldine Taylor, from Winchester, Massachusetts.
He is survived by his wife, Christine R. Waite, age 59 and was married for 25 years; son Alexandre Y. Waite, age 31; and granddaughters, Auden Marie, Emberlynn Renee, Addalee Noelle. As well as his cat and napping companion, Yoda.
He was a man of compassion and always willing to pray for, encourage and provide scripture to those he worked with and encountered while working at Lowe’s, or out and about.
There will be a Celebration of Life service at Olive Branch on 2732 E. Cleveland Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa from 2:00PM to 4:00PM on March 11, 2023.
