David "Dave" Moorman

David Clark Moorman passed away on February 18, 2023, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 58. He was born November 29, 1964, in Owensboro, Kentucky, the son of David Keats Moorman and Doris Jane (Lyons) Moorman. He grew up with loving family and friends who affectionately called him "Davy." He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized during his middle-school years at Macedonia Baptist Church.

He attended Daviess County High School in Owensboro, Kentucky until 1982 and graduated from Eisenhower High School in New Berlin, Wisconsin in 1983, playing basketball and baseball throughout his high school years. He attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas where he was active in the Baptist Student Union. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin (Madison) in 1988 with an Industrial Engineering Degree and was then employed in the Chicago area. He married Marcey Bender in 1990 and they had three children. He moved to Johnston, Iowa in 2019.

Dave was intelligent, personable, quick-witted, tenderhearted, compassionate, and loving. He excelled in computer and internet technology and worked most of his life in technology sales. He enjoyed the outdoors and being around animals. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Chicago Bears and Cubs, Wisconsin Badgers, and Kentucky Wildcats. His recreational passion was golfing. He could make food taste wonderful from the grill. He was a good handyman and readily helped others. His generosity is still being expressed in the donation of his organs to those who need them to live. He delighted in coaching his son’s basketball and football teams and his daughter’s softball and soccer teams. He was very proud of all three of his amazing children.

Dave was preceded in death by an infant sister, Melanie Moorman, in 1967 and an infant son, Trevor John Moorman, in 1997; also, by grandparents, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Dave is survived by his three children: Jenna Renée Moorman (New York), Trent David Moorman (Arizona), Bryce Alexander Moorman (Iowa), now attending the University of Iowa; also, his parents of Johnston, Iowa, and two younger brothers Scott (Cary) Moorman of Urbandale, Iowa and Gary (Aura) Moorman of Fort Wayne, Indiana plus eight nieces and nephews (Emma, Caleb, Luke, Zachary, Joel, Claire, Jack, and Cade Moorman); also, four uncles, three aunts, and numerous cousins and friends, including a special friend Michelle Hart. He will be sadly missed by all those who love him.
