Craig J. Downing, cherished son, brother, cousin, and friend, was embraced in the arms of Jesus on October 29, 2024, in Winterset, IA. He passed away after a lengthy illness. Born on November 17, 1976, in Sioux City, Iowa, Craig spent most of his life in his hometown, surrounded by family and friends who treasured his warmth and humor. A 1995 graduate of East High School, Craig built lasting bonds that carried through his life.
Craig was a lover of music, family, and animals, particularly his beloved dogs, who were never far from his side. Known for his quick wit and open heart, he found joy in connecting with people, sharing laughter, and creating memories with those he held dear.
Those left to mourn his loss include Deke, Stefanie, his brother Jerry, his dad, Cujo, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. His friends were very close to his heart, his chosen family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandy Newquist, and his grandparents, James and Zelma Downing and Carl and Naomi Newquist.
