Cindi Lou Beidler passed away on April 2, 2024, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, after a brief illness.
Cindi was born to Carroll and Ruth Hollings on June 15, 1957, in Des Moines Iowa.
She lived in Missouri, Hawaii and most recently Florida until coming back to Urbandale for medical treatment. A 1975 graduate of Urbandale High School, she was the longtime Office Manager for Starch and University West animal clinics where she developed her love of animals. She is survived by her loved ones: her daughter, Angie Hervey (Ryan) of West Des Moines and grandchildren whom she dearly loved: Tyndal, Ilsa, and Edith; her sisters Vicki Stinson and Kim Meador of Urbandale, IA; nieces Andrea Longoria (Scott) of Des Peres, MO and Michelle Goldstein (Aaron) of St Louis, MO, and many great nephews, a niece and her dog, Joy.
Cindi enjoyed trying and learning new things. Of particular note was her foray into experimental cooking. She loved the challenge of recreating popular restaurant items. She had a passion for gardening and was quite good at it. Everywhere she lived her backyard would become an oasis. But what she loved the most was being near water, especially the ocean, dreaming and searching for shells. She had a strong and powerful presence near water.
Cindi’s sense of humor will be greatly missed by those who knew her. Never one to shy away from attempting a witty retort or clever one-liner, her sense of humor was still active and present in her last days. From volunteering her house to be the site of her daughter and son-in-law’s toga party to attempting to cure a late-in-the-evening groomsman’s case of hiccups by trying to scare him (much to the delight of everyone who witnessed it) or her interactions with her grandchildren, Cindi always enjoyed creating an atmosphere of fun.
In death, she joins her one true love, Greg Beidler, whom she never stopped loving.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date to share stories and remember her life.
